AERB e-LORA 2.0: Key Updates

The Atomic Energy Regulatory Board (AERB) has launched the enhanced e-LORA 2.0 (e-Licensing of Radiation Applications) portal, streamlining the registration and licensing process for medical radiation equipment across India. This update brings significant changes for hospitals operating CT scanners, X-ray machines, and other radiation-emitting devices.

What's New in e-LORA 2.0

  • Digital-First Workflow: 100% online processing, no physical document submission required
  • Aadhaar Integration: Radiological Safety Officer (RSO) verification via Aadhaar
  • Real-Time Tracking: Application status visible at every stage
  • Auto-Renewal Alerts: SMS and email reminders 90 days before license expiry
  • Multi-Location Management: Single dashboard for hospital chains

Registration Requirements

Equipment Type License Category Renewal Period
CT Scanner (all types) Type A 5 years
Diagnostic X-Ray Type B 5 years
Dental X-Ray Type C 5 years
PET-CT Scanner Type A+ 3 years

Step-by-Step Registration Process

  1. Create Account: Register on elora.aerb.gov.in with organization PAN
  2. Add RSO: Designate Radiological Safety Officer with valid AERB certification
  3. Equipment Details: Enter make, model, serial number, and installation date
  4. Upload Documents: NOC from building authority, floor plans, shielding calculations
  5. Pay Fees: Online payment via BHIM, UPI, or net banking
  6. Schedule Inspection: AERB regional office will conduct site inspection
  7. Receive License: Digital license issued within 30 days of inspection

Important Note for MRI Installations

MRI systems do not require AERB licensing as they use magnetic fields, not ionizing radiation. However, if your facility operates both MRI and CT/X-ray equipment, your e-LORA account should reflect all radiation-emitting devices.
